M. Chapoutier La Petite Ruche Crozes-Hermitage Rouge 2020

M. Chapoutier's La Petite Ruche Crozes-Hermitage Rouge is an approachable yet expressive expression of Northern Rhône Syrah, crafted by one of the Rhône Valley's most celebrated biodynamic estates. Sourced from the Crozes-Hermitage appellation — the largest AOC surrounding the famed Hermitage hill — this wine delivers the signature character of the region at an accessible price point.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby in color with aromas of black olive, violet, smoked meat, and dark berry fruit. On the palate, expect medium-full body with ripe plum and blackberry flavors, earthy minerality, and well-integrated tannins. The finish is smooth and lingering with a savory, peppery note typical of Northern Rhône Syrah.

Winemaking & Vineyard

M. Chapoutier practices certified biodynamic viticulture across all of its vineyards, treating each parcel as a living ecosystem. The grapes are harvested from multiple plots across the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, vinified with respect for the terroir, and bottled using Braille labeling — a signature of the Chapoutier house since 1996.
